Another state bans agency from discussing climate change

If your mind is not boggled, there is something seriously wrong with you, I think.

Religion

If you get the idea that I am not a fan of organized religion, here’s another reason why that is. This just made me sad.

Changing Name

I think. Not at all sure what I’m doing, but I decided to pay for WordPress and got a domain name, which is strangelypeculiar.com. So I don’t know what this means at all, but there it is. I like to mess with things, what can I say?

Update:  type that into address bar and it goes to blog.  I only used mynewspblog when I was moving from Blogger.com, and then didn’t know how to fix it.   Yes, I am brilliant, just not THAT brilliant.  LOL

Shopping

I was reading a post about teaching your child about marketing. How stores put things out in such a way as to make you want to buy them, and you not doing that. I kind of used to be like that. Catalogs. Oh, look at that. It’s so pretty. I want it. Where will I put it. Simon (my cat) will probably destroy it anyway. And on. It occurred to me once to just cut out the picture and look at it now and then. Man, did that ever work. No clutter, and no money spent. Nothing for Simon to destroy. I miss Simon. He was a good cat. >A Better Day

Pretty dishes that I have not bought: >Feeling Better

Not cooking today. Did not sleep much all night, then slept off and on until 3:30 pm. Yes, things hurt so I slept through it. So glad I’m not doing the stairs again this week. Feeling pretty good now, but still hobbling, and really not up for cooking. So my world-record is safe at six days in a row. I’m happy.

The Boston Bomber

and other things.

I am not usually in favor of the death penalty, because I think mistakes are made more often than we know. But in this case, after seeing and hearing some of the info that has not been made public before, I am appalled and disbelieving at the deliberate cruelty perpetuated by this hideous excuse for a human being and his brother. Bombs designed to do the most horrific damage to a human body, and there were CHILDREN! What ‘god’ condones this? I don’t care what your cause is, or how much injustice you think you have suffered, there is no excuse, no justification for the things that were done that day. So in this case, I would say he does not deserve to live, except maybe in solitary for the rest of his days, but even that is too forgiving. If anyone deserves to die, it is someone who is capable of doing what those two did. It’s like ISIS. Again, no cause justifies their murderous rampages, and I kind of think they just like killing and found a really good way to excuse it to themselves.

Okay, lighter note. Six days in a row. I was going to just blog that, but then I got mad. See above. When I say cooking, I reheated leftovers from yesterday and made more gravy. Gravy. Yum. I never have gravy. It’s tasty. That counts as cooking because I usually eat power bars and frozen dinners and order-in stuff, like Chinese food. Which is not nearly as good as it used to be. My fave place closed, too.

IMAG000Today I had my eyes checked and a bone-scan. Two appointments in one day, which meant I was a bit late for the scan since the eye doctor was really busy and behind, but it also means I only had to do the stairs once. For TWO appointments. Yay! Hobbling now, but not bad. Just getting to go outside was a treat. Are they ever going to fix the elevator? Seriously? Of course, they were not even aware that there are filters that need to be changed regularly for the central heat/air system. How can they not know that? Now that they are aware, have they changed mine? Yeah, right.

Also, my upper right hand picture has gone AWOL. IDEK.  Update:  Got it back.  Yay, me.

Not Cured

There is no miracle cure. But I cooked five out of the last five days. Nothing major, but I cooked. 5 mg Prednisone seems to be the magic number, as long as my bones hold out. Am getting bone shots soon. Five days in a row. Do you even know how rare that is? It seems like years since I’ve managed to cook more than two days in a row. Of course, I didn’t do much of anything else, so the kitchen was kind of…yeah. My homemaker helped with that yesterday, so I am back on track with relative neatness. Woo Hoo. LOL

This is still not me:

Cooking-2Was reading an article about books from movies. I’ve read a couple where the movie was so much better. Brokeback Mountain is one. Tim was another. Before Mel Gibson turned into that person. The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter.

Some movies were really bad representations of the book. The DaVinci Code wasn’t horrible, how can any movie with Paul Bettany be horrible?, but it wasn’t the book. Jurassic Park. The Girl With The Dragon Tatoo trilogy, although the Swedish movies were much better (and darker) than the US one I saw. Twilight. The book, while seriously…sparkles?, was a page turner once you got past the whole premise of it. Not that that makes sense, but I know what I mean, I just can’t find the right words. Harry Potter. Loved the first book, liked the second, stopped reading after the third. The movie of the first one just bored me.

Some books I won’t watch the movie. The Perfect Storm is one. I can’t imagine any one else’s imagination doing a better job than my own did while reading it.

That’s all I can think of off hand. I’m worn out from cooking FIVE DAYS IN A ROW! Woo Hoo!!!
