“Choose kindness” Please.

My new kindle battery came yesterday, put it in the kindle just now, and it works. IT WORKS. Oh, happy happy happy happy day! Cannot tell you how much I have missed my kindle keyboard. This is my second one actually, the screen on the first one did weird stuff I do not know how to fix. This is what was on it when it died, and this is what is stlll on it now. I am so excited. Screw you, Amazon. With your shit Oasis and touch screens and Buy This Buy That crap. Oh happy day.

When you think about it. Humans programming got messed up somewhere along the way, I think.

The attitude of the Republicans who ALL voted to take away life-saving services from their constituents.
This one is all over the web:
‘…this act is likely to lead to deaths of people who have their Medicaid taken away. Sen. Joni Ernst of Iowa was told this at a town meeting and replied with sarcasm, saying “We all are going to die.”
The below is confirmed by SNOPES

This is my new new favorite quote, from incrediberry on Instagram: If you call yourself ‘pro-life’, you should be helping people who are….alive.

The bill delays the harshest effects of its Medicaid and SNAP provisions until after the 2026 midterms, pushing enforcement into fiscal year 2027. According to page 69, Section 21101(c), “The amendments made by this section shall apply to calendar quarters beginning on or after January 1, 2027.” This delay applies to the rollout of mandatory Medicaid work requirements, including budget cuts and redeterminations that will lead to mass disenrollment. It’s a political calculation—keeping consequences off the radar until the voting is over. On top of that, SNAP restrictions are postponed even further for some states. Page 707, Section 44101, allows states with a high “payment error rate” to delay implementation until fiscal year 2030, pushing some of the most punishing changes well past multiple election cycles.
The reason for these delays is straightforward: control the optics. By holding off cuts until 2027, lawmakers avoid immediate voter backlash in 2026. That gives #DonaldTrump’s Project 2025 time to hardwire structural shifts without public resistance derailing them. Voters won’t feel the Medicaid loss or SNAP tightening until it’s too late to vote the architects out. This strategy front-loads appealing tax breaks while backloading economic pain for the working poor, single mothers, disabled people, and low-income seniors. It’s political insulation disguised as policy timing—and it sets up the next administration to carry out the cleanup without fear of electoral blowback.

I’m not sure about the rules for posting things from other sources, but this is from the same post. It’s a comment. Do I need to attribute or keep the people anonymous on here? Not sure, but it’s worth the risk of whatever.
“Many of these folks are from sects affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention, which broke away from the Baptists in 1845 because the Southern Baptists wanted to continue to support slavery.
In other words, it isn’t surprising that these Republican “Christian” senators apparently have a warped view of what Jesus would want them to do.”
They truly seem to have no knowledge at all of what Jesus taught, they are just using his name to justify their greed and cruelty. They are a disgrace.
“At the core of Republicans’ newly finalized domestic policy package is an important political calculation. It provides its most generous tax breaks early on and reserves some of its most painful benefit cuts until after the 2026 midterm elections.
The result is a soon-to-be enacted law that may generate bigger refunds for some taxpayers when they file their returns next spring, even as a series of significant changes to Medicaid and other aid programs loom as a future threat to the finances of poorer families. […] Some of the provisions could see millions of people lose Medicaid and food stamps in the coming years, inflicting financial hardships on families and angering voters. That reality led some Senate Republicans to oppose the domestic policy bill earlier this week, citing the potential adverse impacts on their states and residents. […] “They want to try to get past elections and try to hide the ball on the damage they’re imposing on health care and food assistance,” added Mr. Jacquez, who is now chief of policy at Groundwork Collaborative, a liberal advocacy group.

I have not checked yet, so i don’t know if they actually passed the BBB or not, but I have to admit, I am scared. My own country, my own fellow citizens, my own government is deliberately trying to take away everything we need to survive in the ‘greatest country in the world’. As if I believe that for a second. We are not the greatest anything anymore, if we ever really were. The govenment is working hard to line their and their cronies pockets at our expense. Not exactly sure how we got here, but it was probably because people did not realize that you cannot compromise or negotiate with evil. You have to stop it in its tracks, and no one in power stepped up to do that. There are people trying now, but the administration is working to prevent even that. To take away the rule of law, the checks and balances, everything that makes democracy work, in favor or feeding their pockets. A rich, white, South African was allowed to make policy and destroy our institutions. Rich is always the key word, isn’t it? If you have money, you can do anything, because we are a culture that worships the dollar. Nothing else matters. Ethics, integrity, compassion. Nothing but profit. I don’t know what is going to happen to me and others like me, but it is frightening. Very. I am sorry to be vindictive, but I sincerely hope that those of us who voted for hate and caused this to happen suffer a hundred times more and faster than those of us who chose otherwise. You deserve every bad thing that happens to you, your parents dying from lack of health care or housing, your children starving and worse, you losing your homes, your farms, your businesses. You voted for this. You voted for hate. Enjoy it. I will feel not one single iota of sympathy for you. Hate breeds hate. And you are hated.

They neglected to mention being betrayed by your own government.
Until today, when I am just plain angry. Everything I depend on will likely be cut or decreased drastically, and my rent was just raised 30%. Good ole US of A, right?
The last one doesn’t show well so doing it again. Enjoy, MAGA.

The senate tied on the orange disgrace’s BBB, and Vance cast the deciding vote. If Congress does not step up and do the right thing, we are doomed. How many of us who depend on Medicare and other supports will be left with no health care, possibly homeless as well, because people chose to vote for hate, rather than decency. I am not religious, but if this is how a ‘Christian’ nation treats it less fortunate, I think they completely misunderstand what the word means. Follower of Christ. Follower of his teachings. After a lifetime of exposure to Christian dogma, I do not remember any signs of him saying to starve the children, abandon the sick, kick aside the needy. I am ashamed to be a member of my species sometimes, and I will never forgive or make allowances for the absolute inhumanity of MAGA people. “I choose hate”. Christ must be so proud. For the first time, I am really worried about what is going to happen. I thought sanity would prevail, but I was just so wrong.
