There is always something more to protest, stand up for, be appalled by, whatever. It does get wearing, but you must do what you can, even if it is only signing petitions and posting information to get the word out. Here’s today’s:

And also today, Michigan is trying to pass a bill that would require women to purchase additional/special insurance against rape, likening it to auto insurance. Wow.
Apparently, some of us are just total lunatics. It seems to be getting more bizarre every day. I have no explanation.
Is that insurance thing for real? Please tell me it’s not true.
No clue. Would not surprise me. The idiocy that is happening in today’s world just boggles my mind.
Found this on wilwheaton dot Tumblr:
“For those you who want to act aghast that I’d use a term like “rape insurance” to describe the proposal here in front of us, you should be even more offended that it’s an absolutely accurate description of what this proposal requires. This tells women that were raped and became pregnant that they should have bought special insurance for it. By moving forward on this initiative, Senate Republicans want to essentially require Michigan women to plan ahead and financially invest in healthcare coverage for potentially having their bodies violated and assaulted. Even worse, it would force parents to have similar and unthinkably terrible discussions about planning the same for their daughters. I’ve said it before and I will say it again: This is by far one of the most misogynistic proposals I’ve ever seen in the Michigan legislature.”
— Michigan Sen. Gretchen Whitmer (D). The Michigan GOP, backed by Right to Life of Michigan, just forced through a bill requiring separate abortion coverage in a rarely-used, veto-proof vote. It is opposed by doctors, patients, and even by current Republican Governor Rick Snyder. (via bebinn)”
Unbelievable. I’m stunned. Flabbergasted.
This is sickening, but sadly it’s just another example of the moral turpitude and stupor creeping through the politics and governance of this country. Only last week a 6-year old boy was suspended from school for ‘sexual harrassment’, an offence that his now part of his permanent student record unless his parents are successful in their fight to have it expunged. His crime? Kissing a little girl – one of his 6-year old classmates – on her hand and cheek. Unwanted attention, certainly, but school administrators are quickly losing all perspective, not to mention common sense, in their ability to deal appropriately with areas of behavior that need no more than a firm, but simple correction. In essence, this innocent little kid now has a criminal record.
