Inauguration Day! History in progress, and we are all part of it. I am so proud to be an American today. I am proud of Massachusetts for having had an African-American senator, for having it’s first ever African-American governor, and for being part of electing the first ever African-American president. I’m thinking that this bodes well for our country, that this has happened in spite of things like the woman not even taking McCain’s word for it that Obama is not a Muslim, like that’s the worst thing that could happen. In spite of all the hatred that was spewed during the campaign, besides all the prejudice fomented over the last…forever, we did it. I am so proud, and so happy to have been a part of this by voting. I helped create an historical event. So did all of you who voted, as well. “It’s a good day for America” Craig Ferguson. I do like Craig Ferguson, and Obama, and America on this day. We did it. I am also infinitely grateful to my mother for teaching me from the first moment I ever saw an African-American, that it’s not what is on the outside that matters. Inside, we are all one people. I had a good mother.

  1. You sure had a good mother. I like that: “inside we are all the same”. I live in South Africa, one of the last bastions of legislated prejudice. A couple of days ago there was a story in the paper about how white gentleman who received a heart from a black child had just passed on at age 48. When he received the heart many years ago, the president had to call a cabinet meeting to decide whether it was ethical for a white patient to receive a “black” heart! A government meeting! Can you believe that? They finally decided once the heart leaves the black body it became neutral, so the transplant went ahead. I can’t help but laugh at the stupidity of it all. My own philosophy has always been we are all the same because we always, always bleed red. Sorry about the long comment!

  2. I’m just happy to have a comment. Long is good. LOL I do despair for my species. The depths of our stupidity astound me. The things we do will someday be looked upon the way we see what people did and believed, how they behaved, hundreds of years ago. We can look back and see the wrongness of their thinking, but are too close to see that same wrongness in our own thoughts and beliefs. There are so many things. I could write a book just about the idiocy. I won’t. You can breath now.
